I have a Sony handycam DCR-DVD610 DVD and I want to increase the video angle to get a larger shot. But will this affect the video quality? I plan to get a SONY VCL-0630X DIGITAL CAMERA WIDE CONVERSION LENS, can any one help?
A better lens does not necessarily improve image quality. The wide angle lens will help you videotape a larger area wthout having to get far away from the subject. How this affects video quality is that since it looks farther away then there will be less detail.
What really affects the image quality is the image sensor the camera has and the media you are recording it on. A bigger image sensor or a 3CCD array will render a better picture. For the media your choice of DVD does not render good image quality after you record it.
So buying a wide angle lens will only affect the image quality by showing less detail. Getting closer will have more detail but if you want to show a wider angle then that will be fine with you.
