recording mistakenThe camera is vast when it worked. Stay away from this model. You will be recording then it will tell you that it can't impute to the disk an anything you have recorded is lost.
Sickening software and PC interface !!
Byt this only if you arrangement to never never make a DVD out of multiple DVDs.. ;-) - that is the most common thing I do .. and i theory you all do too.
The software which comes with it is terrible. Does not recognize the camcorder when it is useful to the PC - even the the Picture Motion Browser is up !!
DO NOT PURCHASE - unless you have your own software to vocation with!
Very unstable camera - DON'T BUY!
This is an comfortable camera to use, but it's not feature loaded. It's convenient to store footage quickly to mini DVD disks. BUT - there seems to be a systemic problem with this camera and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING IT. I had pretentious stuff recorded on one disk, and then the camera informed me 'Movie Recording Impaired.' No more video could be recorded to the disk, the footage won't play, and it could not be extracted into a a handful of of video editing software packages that I have tried. OK, maybe the disk was bad. Not so, as explicitly the same thing happened with the next disk (Sony brand DVD-R). I recorded some horseshit, and now it is lost! A search on Google showed that many people have experienced the same uncontrollable with this camera. Beware - look elsewhere for a DVD camera.
Waited a year to picket THIS review to be fair!!!!
I bought this for a Disney Freak out last September and used it a lot since.
Pros:
1. Easy to use. Just pop in a mini dvd and make a notation of.
2. Mini DVD finaliztion process is a snap, and the dvd will play in most dvd players.
CONS: WHY I RATED IT 1 Celebrated!!!!!!!!!
1. Forget shooting at night. I tried several settings to adjust the round-the-clock feature to include the night shot lighting. IT SUCKS. Everything looks infrared. My older JVC mini8 took advance shots at night. I recently return from the beach and the night at once around the bonefire looked horrible. THIS camcorder is only good during the day. July 4th fireworks all looks blueish red at A-.
2. IT BROKE! I used it(Parties, beach twice, Disney). This camera has a centre issue...look to other forums under error 61:11. Eventually the autofocus will depart from b renounce. Mine did three days into my beach vacation. I called sony because i have a 5 year warranty. WHAT waste. I need to send it in and still pay 100.00 minumum. This camera is going for 200 on ebay.
3. You will yield precious moments until you realize how to use it. When you hit pause the camera goes back about 30-45 secs. When you reputation again YOU LOSE that time frame. I ran into Snow White and the girls ran up to get a responsive hug, then paused and we found Cinderella, and again quick hug. I recorded and paused then recorded and interruption throughout the day. Needless to say I lost alot. No shots with either princess. Your best bet is to extreme all 30 mins non stop and who does that!!
4. Battery is garbage. I had to buy a 3 hour battery-operated to supplement the life time of the stock battery. More $$$$ wearied.
If I had to do it over I would buy another camcorder. 400.00 didnt last 1 year and Im buying something else. No more cheap ones like this. Get one with a loyal night light! Trust me you wont regret it.
Very Let down
After owning this output for a year and a half, after hours and hours of tech support, downloads, updates, scrutiny manuals, troubleshooting, etc I can say that this is the Least User-Friendly and workable product so far. The cadency mark uses a "mini DVD" which may or may not play on your computer (depending on the operating system) Regardless, it will not conveyance easily to your computer for further editing. I have about 20 MiniDVDs full of footage of parties, vacations, holidays, events, etc....All of which can be viewed only through the camera, or on a computer in a little while attached to the camera. They CANNOT be stored or transferred to a regular DVD; don;t let the salesman swear you that they can.
Tech Support has been totally useless for any of these issues; we haven't even gotten to the menial sound or the static and noise that come through on the video.
The camera "Should" be gambler than it has been. Maybe I just got a bad one, but Sony has yet to make good on any aspect of it. I am left with a roughly worthless product that falls way short of the reasons for which I selected it.
