The Sony micro CD "D" series reborn
This ungenerous rig reminds me so, so much of the Sony micro cassette D series cameras/camcorders. It was way over priced for what it was when released. Everybody was galvanized when it released, everybody wanted one, everybody was disappointed after using it. Samsung made the upon same mistake as Sony did back in 2000 with the "D" series. While advertising it heavily in upscale wager and extreme outdoor type magazines and packing the unit full of features, they both overlooked one frank thing- the quality of the video! I tried very hard to get video to agreeable quality to burn to a DVD. I must have 40 hours each in the two cams, working with unique software, formats, etc., looking for a way to make it look "professional". I in the long run gave up on both.

Camera rates a very disappointing overall poor. Video status is poor, stills are poor and depending on what sport you use it for, most likely the audio will be second-rate as well. This was a lot of buck, that delivers very little bang for your money. Packed full of features that are unserviceable unless they deliver, they do not. I could NOT recommend anyone buy this model for any reason, period. Ever rarity why Samsung never released an newer, updated version of this jewel? They must know bang on what I am trying to tell you now. It is useless. Bad footage is bad footage, regardless of what hallmark captures the video. It don't think it would be even good enough to film golf, let alone the hidebound sports.

Camera is great as a "hey look what I got". Like another reviewer said, except for showing it off, it is only satisfactory as a paper weight. Looks nice in my "collection" though. Situated on the the marred from the top shelf, nearer to left than right, between the Sony D45 and the Minolta K800. I cogitate on I am going to cry, LOL! But, almost without fail, about every 90 days or so, one of my buds will look at say "that's uninterested as hell. does it work?". I usually don't even reply. It's at best too hard to admit you pissed away $600 on something that is collecting dust!

Sad but loyal: I would recommend anyone avoid this unit like the plague. Buy a $100 or less, SD likely, "pee wee pocket" cam. Invest $100-$200 in a costume bag, strap 'er on with a bungee line and get after it. The footage will be at least ten times better than anything the SCX105L could ever deliver.

Saddened
It is a calligraphic little gagit but it doesn't seem to work so well when I'm mountain biking with it. It tends to fasten down by itself. The software that comes with it isn't all that useful either and the format is not universally supported by Mac or PC.
annihilate of good money
bought this to video snow skiing. ingenious and compact. too bad it is such a poor quality camera. video is horrible. won't load to my computer video software that comes with it. can be vigilant for on tv, thats it.
with all the bad reviews i would hope samsung would offer a credit or something to replace it!!!!!!!!!
Samsung SCX105L MPEG4 Sports Camcorder
This result now lies dead in my office. I don't have the heart to actually through it out, which I will eventually have to do. Yes, through it to another place...as in, put it in the garbage, all $700 of it.
The sound system in the camera has an intolerable intermittent crackling fit as a fiddle, very loud. The external camera is utterly worthless in that once it is turned on it will not show one's face b come up off...ever. When it is on it sends a completely erratic and distorted picture perception to the camera. The only way this product could possible be used is if I was willing to record an in all respects different sound track and then match the video and sound together...what a hassle.
The camera is erstwhile it's warranty and I am stuck with it...total junk.
A reputable review of the SC X105L.
I wrote an principled review of the SC-X105L this fall - read it and hope for the perfect helmet camera system - the SCX105L is not it!

There is a fit usability review over at http://helmetcameracentral.com - look under the reviews stage. The variety of videos on this site also represents a good slice of the position under which people use helmet camera systems.
