Customer Reviews
Radiant to look at and hold but I have reservations with compatibilityI have bewitched quite a long time before reviewing this camera because I wanted to assay various scenarios. Firstly, I love the look of this camera and the sensible of of it from an ergonomic standpoint. It's like driving a nice car ... where dials and rudder are right within reach of most hands. I have a pretty large hands for a lady and the camera feels good and I have not been reaching for any buttons that would cause suspicion or such. This may seem like a moot point to some, but accessibility is important in electronics so that you can snare the right moment.
I, like another review, pulled the camera only out of the box and started using it without reading the manual or getting into the Quick start standard. I've been able to work with other cameras in that way and always enjoy testing from that perspective.
I loved the light screen and the audio cues. I know that this screen took a smidgen more pressure than expected but nothing out of the ordinary. The stills photos the camera takes are courteous and crisp and video inside with adequate lighting and outside is irrational, I have no great complaints with the picture quality. One main thing I DID take heed of that was like a bee in my bonnet was that battery life for my unit was horrible. Deficient? Perhaps. I didn't have it out long enough to really test the camera the way I would have (through a full day or indoor and alfresco activities. The Samsung barely made it through the afternoon while my JVC did quite well with battery life. The JVC camera I am referring to is this one: JVC Everio GZ-HD300 60GB Favourable-Def Camcorder (Black).
The JVC is not as cool looking but it sure has a great mobile life and is very compatible with YouTube and iMovies. Mac compatibility was important for me. I use my Mac and iMovies to shorten my creations and this was not possible with this camera. Bummer.
For a PC user, it is a non-climax. But for me, using iMovie 08 ... an error every time.
4 stars all-embracing for ergonomics and functionality. 1 star off for battery life and iMovie incompatibility.
Down-to-earth to Use, Small in Size
I've been using this camcorder for a few months now. I like to have a unspoilt history with an electronic before I review it, given that I've prematurely reviewed other items and had to appear back and change the entire review.
One of the most important criteria for a camcorder is how seemly it captures video. This does a very good job and is vastly superior to my old mould mini-dv's. While the video is great, I find the pictures to be lacking for my taste. I already own a exacting digital point-and-shoot camera and I've found that it takes better photos than this camcorder. I hankering someday to have a camcorder that captures photos just as well as video, but I refuge't found it yet. I'm certainly not dogging-out the photo quality here. It is good and suitable for most population, but I use a lot of photo programs and prefer crisper images than this camcorder is competent of producing.
A really good thing about this camcorder is that it's so easy to use. I found most of the functions to be entirely intuitive and within a couple of days, I'd pretty much mastered all of the functions.
Also, this sentiment is small and that's wonderful. Nobody wants to lug around heavy, clunky camera paraphernalia.
I found the battery life to be acceptable. I always wish battery life were longer, so I'm perplexing to please on the topic, but I'll say that the battery has held up over the months and does not hold any less power than it did at.
The camcorder is relatively quiet and this is evident upon playback. A little of the zoom racket can be perceived, but just about nothing else from the camcorder itself. I sneezed during one of my filming sessions and upon playback, scarcely busted the speakers on my television. lol It does pick up the sound, unreservedly well!
One word of caution is that Samsung camcorders record in .MP4 format. Most of my photo/video programs are not in agreement with this format. I had to purchase a digital converting program ($20) from the internet, so I could transmute and edit my videos.
All-in-all, I'm quite happy with this camcorder and expect many years of use. As always, I will update if anything goes cockeyed.
Kind-hearted product
The freestyle life is not good. As for the pictures, the low light performance is better than I attentiveness. And it is easy to use. Overall, this is a good choice for this price.
Don't confidence in everything you read
I was looking for a hilarious def camcorder at a large retailer that didn't break the bank but did fix up with provision a good quality high def picture. The salesman steered me to the Samsung standard. I thought the shape was great and it had all the features I wanted (touch small screen controls, full 1080 'P'rogressive video, and I loved the swivel direct) so I looked for it at Amazon the day before cyber Monday. They had it at a great price and most reviews were four stars so I ordered it.
I was very disenchanted in the picture quality. All of the descriptions at Amazon claimed things like '1920 x 1080 Full HD recording; tonier image quality appears clear on your HDTV' and 'It also means that your video will be an enjoin pixel-by-pixel match for today's very best large strainer HDTVs. The result is life-like video with more natural flush and clarity, without the blurring or digital noise you might well be used to.' Well these weren't the pictures we saw. These words are advertising exagerations at best. All of our videos, shot in all light levels contained entirely a bit of digital noise (grainy picture), so much so that even my wife and kids (who normally don't elucidation on any technical standards) asked why the picture looked so fuzzy. As well, the idea of being able to take a snap shot while recording a video is a immense idea however I was unable to any photos that weren't blurred or had anything close to satisfactory picture quality.
I even went so far as to call Samsung technical support and ask if I was doing everything I could to get the beat picture quality possible. I was told that if I'm recording on the 'fine' scene and connecting my camcorder to my tv with an HDMI cable the video quality should be bigger (remember 1080p) than the regular cable broadcasts in 1080i. The Samsung videos weren't even bring together. Believe me I wanted nothing more than Samsung telling my I needed to change the 'blah blah' setting and my video would be great, but that didn't happen.
Now this review is not intended to ram Samsung, in fact my realively new large screen HDTV is a Samsung and it's great. However I cogitate on the CNET review stated it best with so so video quality.
I'm not unshakable if there is a camcorder with true high def quality video in the $500 to $600 guerdon range but this camcorder's picture quality is not even close. I've given it three stars for the devise and features.
PS It was returned to Amazon last week. The search continues.
Very penetrating!!
A number video camera. Better in daylight. Enough good in poor tolerable. I experience the best quality if i dont use the zoom. If i forget my memory playing-card, i have the internal ssd. I wolud like to see in the future a camera that i dont have to explain something to connect the charger and the rest of the cables, because i feel that the jack screen is going to break someday soon. Pic quality is excellent!!! Software is enough good.
