It's remarkable to have a camcorder that works in low light!Wow, I should have bought less lumber in general and bought better stuff! I decided to take the plunge and buy this, the last of the weighty SD camcorders, because I wanted to get good video of indoor events, like birthday parties, Christmas mornings, and weddings.
I unprejudiced recorded my first wedding with this unit. It was performed in a converted barn with the counterglow so low that candles were placed along the aisle for ambiance. There was also some narrow, small and exuberant track lights about two thirds of the way toward the ceiling and on either side.
I cranked the gain up to +12 only so I could see everything through the LCD monitor, shot the wedding, and hoped for the best.
Well, now I'm watching it and there's not graininess and the colors are unerring. It's like I'm right back there. I'm sure no consumer grade unit could have pulled this off.
Persuaded, the learning curve is a bit steeper, but it's not bad. There are likely features you'll never use, and it is possible to harm the unit if you don't know what you're doing, so it's a good idea to really over the manual when you first get it. And by all means get an external microphone. It makes a huge dissension.
Camcorder, about $2500. Footage, priceless.
Supreme all-around camcorder
I've hand-me-down this camera for 3 years and it has not failed me. With its 3 ccd chips, picture quality is noted. The ability to save presets is practical, and the camcorder offers multifarious choices for the well-acquainted with types of shots one would like to achieve. It is perfect for some higher distinction filmmaking, which is what I used it for. If you don't believe me, watch a film I've made with it: [...]
The film also shows so so performance in lower light situations by the dvx.
I'm moving on to hd, but I really don't recollect there are better sd cameras out there that offer true 24p/30p at such high quality visualize. The only possibly negative thing is the mic, but almost all internal mics on camcorders aren't that safe anyway.
Overall, highly recommended. Excellent gains for the price.
A venerable
In the age of HD this camera is still amaze-solid and holding it's own. Stunning SD image, great features and laid out practically.
A clever camera.
I did a celebrated deal of research before I bought my DVX100B. With the rising popularity of HD, prices on the DVX will be sinking. It is still a very versatile camera. Images are excellent and the camera is easy to use. Look into out the DVX User website.
Subdue camera in this price range.
The camera allows for tons of power (exposure, white balance, sound levels, stereo, cheer up filtering, auto or manual focus, external xlr mics, etc.). Total it's a great camera that allows you to get the shots you need. The handle zoom and put button are great for low shots with the LCD giving a full vibrant image. When you officiate at apply the dvx-100b in your hands it's well balanced and sturdy so you know it can handle some abrade and tear.
