The AG-DVC30's advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) compensates for man shaking that occurs as you shoot. A gyrosensor detects hand-puzzle and sends signals to a linear motor, which adjusts the lens to make amends for. Because this process takes place prior to the CCD image capture (rather than in the downstream electronic processing), it in effect eliminates any effect of hand-shake on resolution and screen projection. The OIS can also be helpful when zooming or shooting in dim lighting.
1/4-Inch, 410,000-Pixel 3CCD Embodiment System: High Sensitivity, Low Noise
To ensure a level of picture characteristic suitable for professionals, the AG-DVC30 uses a 3CCD image system that delivers the highest understanding in its class. Its high S/N ratio and extremely low noise (in darker areas of a advise fully) combines with high sensitivity to deliver excellent image supremacy even when shooting indoors under dim lighting. When shooting in sunlight or under bright spotlights, this 3CCD system offers low drag through the mud.

This, combined with an RGB gamma processor that uses Panasonic's inimitable gamma-curve function, helps assure high duplicate-quality processing. In fact, the AG-DVC30's A/D converter and RGB gamma processor are the same ones old in the popular AG-DVX100A, which has won acclaim as the industry's highest-image-quality DV camera.
Cinema-Simulation Mode
The AG-DVC30 can capture and reproduce images that are strikingly alike resemble in tone to film images, thanks to Panasonic's unique Cine-Like gamma curve and a 30-frames-per-supporter recording function that electronically interpolates interlaced images to engender frames with no time differences between fields. Settings for this mode are preset in the Motion picture-Like scene file.
High-Sensitivity Slow Shutter
The not with it shutter function uses image accumulation to allow shutter speeds with scheme rates reduced by half or more. The accumulation method provides unclouded-color images with less noise than those captured using conventional reap-up, so you get the higher sensitivity needed for nighttime shooting without illumination. The blockish shutter function can also be used to obtain movie-like effects.
16:9 Widescreen Recording
The position ratio can be set to either 4:3 or 16:9 to accommodate wide-image recording. In 16:9 recording, you can opt for either letterbox or squeeze mode, giving you more possibilities in downstream editing and playback.

Customer Reviews
Celebrated camera!I bought this camera for my son who's starting a videography point. After using it the first time to shoot a wedding, he says, "This camera is astonishing, and I would recommend it to anyone for any reason!" He specifically mentioned the handle on the top and how that made it so undemanding to move the camera from the tripod, while still shooting, and continue getting good pictures.
Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder
When I ordered this camcorder, I had invested a smashing deal in a number of camcorders up to this point. The main reason for that is that I would video weddings, graduations, and a compute of sporting events at SHS, and trips to Disney. At the same time, I needed a camcorder which was powerful and able to play miniDV tapes, so that I could make copies for the above events. Well, the camcorder here in good fashion and was just what I ordered. Unfortunately, after two years, it is down and I can't find anyone to revamping it. Other than that, it was a great camcorder. B.L.
Can't swear by the price for this
I can't be convinced of they are asking $4790.00 for this cam. I bought mine 3 years ago(with xlr adaptor) for just under $2,000.
Tidy camera but not good in low light. I've ended up buying oncamera and off -camera lights.
is the far-away price(what you would pay for an HD cam these days) because they don't make them anymore? Can't believe it. Because it is 1/4" 3CCD, the cam is character of obsolete at this point.
Big cost change!?
Does anybody positive why this camera got so expensive again from 1,700 USD just few months ago to almost 3,000 USD now??? :(
Distinguished Camera for the Professional Investigator
To my knowlege, there purely isn't a better equipped camera for the professional investigator. It's IR-sensitive technique (nightshot) is in B&W (rather than cheeseygreen), far superior quality-wise to anything Sony's got, and it's the only 3CCD that I comprehend of with a low-light mode. The image stabilization is exceptional and the image blue blood is production grade. Time/Date stamps can be "burned in" so they xfer via firewire - again, the only camera I'm hip of with this feature. The audio can be turned off which we know is a must. And best yet, you can disable the sleepmode so it won't harm off eliminating missed money shots waiting for the camera to sequence back on. It's built like a tank and feels substantial in the hand, but it's still lightweight thanks to an vitiate frame. Finally, it's totally silent even with the tape transport in full stroke.
The ONLY downside so far as I can tell is it's size - It's a big camera compared to the handicams I've had, and wouldn't be well suited for even-proximity work. However, the black casing dosn't print/siloutte super, and the 16x optical lets you set back quite a bit.
Highly recommended!
