Elfin And Easy to use
I honey this camera. I have owned it now for a couple years and have found it easy to use. The only down sides are that the battery-operated does not last as long as i would like but extra batteries are not that expensive and i liking that there was a light on it for when you plan on capturing tape in low light situations. otherwise i would definately propose this item for every day use
OK Starter Video Camera
I have owned this camera for several years now. It still captures video and I can rescue digital video off of it from my computers running Ubuntu Linux. My dominating complaint was that the view screen quit on me after about a month of owning it, recognition goodness for the built-in old-school viewfinder. The video quality is rather miserable, but may be fine for some as a basic starter camera.
Unimpressive camcorder, no extra light for flash/low-light situations
I grabbed this camcorder at Walmart as the cheapest alternative on Christmas Eve 3 years ago, to capture my kids on Christmas morning. Rarely did I know my hubby and kids would do the whole gift-opening without me or the camera, while I slept in after staying up partially the night doing last-minute wrapping!
Anyway, the camcorder has been good for recording our people and kids growing up. I couldn't upload to computer either until I found this special cord my hubby had for his HP computer, that's supplement small on the camera side. "Firewire" doesn't specify it enough at the store.
I regard the 1 GB SD card that holds pics in it, and now I use the camcorder almost more for still shots for ebay and other images for email than I do for video.
My leading disappointment is that there's no extra light feature. Many images come out night in low-light settings, and I can't adjust for it with an extra light. Maybe I should present the manual - I just read there's a manual low-light setting.
I meant to come this camcorder within 30 days for a refund until I could research a GOOD one, but then Walmart's return principles was 15 days, I think. Oh, well. Could've been much worse!
Not line terrible
I bought this camera when it first came out. It's not a bad camera, by any means, for the cost. But, I did have problems connecting it to a computer via firewire. I tried two different computers and neither recognized the camera. I out many hours, literally, trying to find the problem. Searching the internet acute and low. But had no luck. I even bought a thirty dollar firewire cable, to see if I by the skin of one's teeth need a different one. I broke down and finally called Panasonic tech maintain. The gentlemen spent about five to ten minutes talking with me. He eventually told me they would have to body a case file and get back to me in a week or so. I never heard back from them. I did like the camera, other than that. It's evolve, easy to use. I got good use out of it. I recently bought a new camera though (Canon HV30), and gave my Panasonic PV-GS19 to my niece. She loves it. So if you are looking for a essential home movie camera or starter camera for a child this is it. You can buy editing programs that draw nigh with an adapter (You plug the AV cable into it, and the adapter plugs in to the computer)so you can edit your video. This is what I ended up doing.
