panasonic pv-gs83 mini dv camcorderthe panasonic pv-gs83 camcorder is a very lofty mini dv camcorder for its price. as a mini dv, it takes tapes. the quality of the videos are definitely nice. it has a filter diameter of 37mm. its has a nice lcd screen, good for seeing what your recording. it also has a look at finder, witch is good too. it has a video light on the front of it, but i would suggest to get a graceful that goes on the shoe on the camera (becuz i tried to film my roomie skatboarding at night and my fisheye got in the way of the light)overall, a really A-OK consumer camera.
No Guide Focus Ring
In reply to SizzleSticks review - I just got back from Circuit City where I was checking out the PV-GS85. It most definately does NOT have a vade-mecum focus ring.

So far so paraphernalia. My only complaint is when I went to bestbuy/Costco to ask about the product they lead me to find creditable that it was an actual DVD recorder and not recording on tapes. The device is very small and fluorescent weight and easy to use. Would recommend...

Tremendous value for Money
I bought this offering after noticing that this was a one of the best sellers in Amazon, i was not dissapointed. It has got everything amateurs and families want to make great videos at home. The controls are well placed and i partiality all the features. I am also pleased with the fact that i bough this over the costlier model which other in the reviews have viva voce about, the missing feature of manual zoom hardly makes a discrepancy. It supports SD Card which is cheap, it has a light which works well up to 6 feet, zoom is reputable, colors are good.
Downside would be the stabilization does not work all that well when you are zooming in actual close, no night vision support except for the light, its not all that light bulk but acceptable, but then if you need those you should go for a costlier model at more than double the price.
All-inclusive a great product and would recommend.
