Proprietary video plan is annoyingSo the camera is nicely sized, takes righteous video, all that is great.
where I run into problems is doing stuff with those videos.
My powermac G5 doesn't substantiate it at all - need the latest version of ilife and that is not compatible with PPC. Great.
The software on windows allows me to vision, but if I try to upload to youtube - it fails, says connection failed. My consistency to youtube is fine. Now I gotta scour the web looking for how to get the vids up. I can't well-deserved watch the videos with windows media player, avi players like quicktime, etc. That's maddening.
Would be better if you could just get the vids.
anyone know how to play or transcode/alter MTS files?
In the seventh heaven videographer
I bought this for the reveal purposs of being able to videoing my wife's Orchestra and putting it online. The first presentation is in a week so I cant wait. All the "playcordings" I have done with this to get used to handling it have turned out noteworthy. I was real impressed after we had a foot of snow and I could set the w-balance where I, underline I wanted it to be to overstate my recordings. They turned out great. If you use it right it does show up pretty satisfactory in low light. I love the manual controls that is the reason I bought it. Platform lights suck for automatic cameras.
Mind-boggling picture quality, extensive features
Arrant camcorder choice, if you are willing to pay the steep price. Definitely prosumer vicinage. Impeccable picture quality (look for some of the extensive analyses and reviews published online), superior sound. Unbelievable performance in low-light conditions. Great set of features. Only defect thus far: some may find touch screen a bit fiddly to use (no problem for me, since I am used to my touch wall off phone).
Jamaica Retirement community Videos
Bought this camera for our misstep to Jamaica. I really like this camera. It is very portable and easy to use. The calibre of the videos is amazing. I am not a avid user of video cameras but this was leisurely to learn. I download all videos and pictures to my PC with ease. One of the great things is the camera does not have a straight drive. It is only flash memory. Therefore, it does not have to "boot" up like a incontrovertible drive video camera. I can turn it on and starting capturing video right away. I am VERY happy with this purchase.
Refined "B" cam
This camera is a gratifyingly "B" cam, I use it for behind the scene shots, car mounting and time lapse work. It does call a TON of light, but most small HD cams do. So with this said the outdoor shots are amazaing, indoors so so. Indoors it scarcely wants all the light it can get, so this usually means gain city = suggestion city. I don't like to go above 3 db of gain, if that's not possible I turn the cam off. Not worth the be honest space. It takes some time adjusting to the manual controls via insufficient buttons and touch screen, but VERY nice to have in depth manual restraint for a cam in this price point (iris, white balance, shutter, fuzzy, and audio!). I've seen the footage displayed on a 50" HD flourish and was very pleased. The detail is amazing, I usually roll in auto focus, instructions iris/ white bal, the auto focus is very quick for the most part. Again light is your patron. Make sure you get a nice ( don't cheap out, get the Century) wide seek and a polarizer. All in all it's a nice HD CAM for what your are paying for. I like the small size, and freestyle life (got a 4 hr batt, lasts forever), and the AVCHD workflow is a cinch in FCP. Also just as a tip, be sure to turn off the OIS if doing any tripod work. Most population forget and this results in the gryos (OIS) fighting the smoothness of a tripod. Honourable luck and have fun with it!
