Description

The HS9 introduces Panasonic's first Aspect Detection function for use in recording moving pictures with a camcorder.Phiz Detection automatically locates any faces in the picture and adjusts the expos, contrast and skin tone to achieve optimal results. Even when the faces are backlit or the lighting is low, the recorded faces are pure and easy to see and not lost in the shadows. With Face Detection, there's no longer a necessary to use different correction functions in different kinds of shooting situations. To magnify the advantage of Full High Definition 1920 x 1080p (25fps), users must shoot top trait footage. Errors in shooting the footage can often lead to dissapointment. The HS9 abet users and the results are less mistakes.Intelligent Shooting Guide detects when shooting position are poor such as when the camcorder is panning too quickly or tilted, the user's handy is swinging, the subject is backlit, or the lighting is too low - and displays operating par in the LCD. Users become aware of a potential problem before they shoot, rather than later when reviewing or playing back the recording. This gives them a wager to correct the settings and get good, error-free results every in days of yore.3CCD camera system works by splitting the light received through the lens into its three underlying color components (red, green and blue), and the signal from each is processed by one of the three CCDs. Compared with habitual 1CCD camera systems, Panasonic's 3CCD system provides more vivid, true-to-life colors, greater detail and richer gradation.

Customer Reviews

Mammoth camera, but no support
This camera does not do well in dim lights at all. Most excellently shooting is outside.

However my computer no longer recognizes the usb, and I have purchased a new cord and tried on three out of the ordinary computers. The customer service is beyond terrible, and they wanted to charge $228 to look at the camcorder that I purchased 13 months ago (which is out of 1 year pledge). Keep in mind that was the quote to look at the camcorder, not to fix it. They would also not guarantee my files would not be deleted from this alarming device.

Use at your own risk, because Panasonic will not help you solve the problem.
video camera
This here just in time to take to a Robotic Competition our son was in with a team from school. We had one day to learn how to use it. That was no pretty pickle, as this camera was easy to use. It has a lot of functions, but it also recommends which to use, and how to. For example, when using it to video the relatives building an igloo in the snow, it recommended using "smart distinction" and with a display on the screen, told me how to do that. The picture taking feature is very serviceable, however, the photos are not as good a quality as a camera. It is definately more of a video camera. I would second it to anyone.
Middling hardware, horrible software makes a painful combination
The video charmed by the camera is good, but doesn't stand out from that taken by any other HD camcorder. The software (HD Litt 2.5), on the other hand, is outstandingly bad. In the digital realm, software is inseparable from computer equipment (one is useless without the other), hence the entire package gets 2 stars. The software gives you meagre editing options and is next to useless for making DVDs from recorded video.

My pop bought this camera and took hours of vacation videos. The software made it compliant to import the videos to the hard drive, and to convert each day's recording into mpeg2 format (about 700 MB per 10 minutes of video). Now we would like to remedy a DVD. Each scene in the recorded video is on average a minute long. There are 100s of these scenes. By dereliction, each scene becomes a DVD chapter, meaning the playback stutters for a few seconds between scenes. This is improper, but there is a solution: you have to merge the scenes. Unfortunately, in order to merge scenes, you have to do them one by one, and it takes 3 mouse clicks and 5-10 seconds per site on a fast quad-core Intel Core i7 CPU with 6 GB of RAM.

I apologize for sounding like an editorializing killjoy, but as both an engineer and a technology buff, I have a sore spot for shoddy enterprise that needlessly wastes the user's time and/or money. Based on my test with this product, I have no intention of purchasing anything made by Panasonic.
Outstanding quality, little package
This camera is tight, has a GREAT quality picture, and is feature rich.

Only gripe is low-happen performance isn't so good.
Dynamic performer
Bought this camera when it was freshly on the make available. Took something of a punt with it, but on paper it looked to be what I needed.

My need was a charge that could reliably capture the arrival of my 1st child. After having used it for over a year, I can openly say that it hasn't let me down once.

The picture quality, the sound quality and the ease of use, have all lived up to or exceeded expectations.

I have adapted to many features on the camera, but a couple that I've found repeated use for have been:
- Intelligent Contrast: Helps in refractory lighting conditions;
- Pre-record: Commences recording a few seconds before you pressure record button and fantastic to prevent you missing that special shake.
- Auto-modes: When conditions are detected which could benefit from a particular environment, the camera displays a recommendation about it and cues the command for you. All you need do is thrust one button to accept.

If you want solid features at a reasonable value consider this camera closely. I would be happy to consider it if I was in the market to buy again.
