Lens cap inaccuracy!!Unfortunately, I also have the same uncontrollable almost everybody has. I used my camera 5 times in 3 years and now it won't work. Don't desert your money on this!!!!
Another Lens Cap cataclysm
My GZ-MG21U HDD has same mind-boggler. Use very few times. Stopped working since last 3 months with Lens Cap Error. Sent it to JVC Forefront. They are asking $275 to fix. BEWARE before buying. Read reviews intentionally. This looks to be widespread problem.
What a pitty
I be familiar with some reviews and thought...there are always some defective product in any batch and it is quite cheap that reviews seem to attract those who have experienced some of them. Well let me tell you after having boughtPre-eminentlyT H R E E of these cameras (2 failed) one still working thank GOD and that I can only conclude that this was aGenerallyM A J O R defect in manufacturing/design and that you would certainly be a gambling person to now pay more than $100.00 for one of these delightfull camcorders. The gig and abilities of this camera are awesome for the price of around $300.00 and nothing can compare. Facer is you c a n n o t depend on the camera working from one day to the nect because of the lens cap failing.
What a pitty and a shame on JVC's part in how they refused to correct there known defect. Outclass on outlets thjat are still trying to get rid of these cameras at a premium price... Even a 90 day carry back policy will not save you on this one.. better pay for a 2 year replacement/repair .

HEY JVC!! Lens Cap Blunder on this model, too
Upon ON JVC!!! This is really pitiful! I bought a GRDF-450u about 15 months ago based on the important marks from Consumer Reports and only used it occasionally. It still looks type new. Then, out of nowhere, I get blindsided with the dreaded "Lens Cap" error and now it is absolutely useless! (for those of you not impudent with the LENS CAP error, basically the camcorder powers up fine but will not write down because it falsely senses the Lens Cap is on when it is not. The viewfinder and LCD screen are blank except for "LENS CAP" flashing) Several JVC camcorder (heterogeneous model numbers) owners have fallen victim to this obvious invent/manufacturing flaw. JVC's product development and quality assurance must in the final analysis suck. JVC has offered to fix this on several camcorder models but NOT the GRDF450u? WHY??!!! I penny-pinching this model put JVC in the spotlight!! Consumer Reports rated it #2 last year. I hypothesis they didn't know it was going to be a LEMON. Do yourself a favor and try another brand such as Sony, Panasonic or Hitachi.
Lens cap literal? Fix it yourself for free!
See my cavalcade of the GR-DF430U for more information. I'll try to help anyone with this problem, as the repair is relatively simple and you can do it yourself. No demand to pay JVC anything at all. They should have fixed this problem long ago, but refused to help out their customers for whatever defence. A bad business decision, in my opinion.
Contact me if you require assistance and instructions on how to fix this dilemma. Save your hard-earned money and don't pay JVC to fix this!

JVC GR-DF450US The Ultra-Closely-knit Series' Low Gleam Extra uses an f1.2 aspherical wonderful brainy lens, which offers 2.3 times the exuberance of an f1.8 lens and 1.8 times the optimism of an f1.6 lens. That execution is enhanced by JVC's 3D babel reduction that delivers a 2dB betterment in the timer-to-caterwauling proportion and reduces video clap by take 30 percent. Flare is eliminated and go red production is improved.
