Mark-wise, pretty good, BUT horrible reliabilityI have owned this camera for almost 3 years. Yet, in that time, the camera has been used for less than 6 hours. And I know that for established because I bought three 2 hours tapes and have yet to use all three of them.
I am happy with the image it can capture. The 1 DVD I made using footage from this camera (of orbit imported through firewire at high quality setting of the capture software and burned at max. persistence) looks pretty good. Battery life is about 1 1/2 hours max.
However, this camera justified died on me recently. It keeps telling me that the lens cap is on and won't record anything or show anything on the shield even though the lens cap is removed. The playback of previous recorded tapes are okay though. Anyway, I mentation I got unlucky and started shopping for a new camcorder and I come to find out that JVC issued a disavow on a slew of models because they had a bad CCD board. Don't believe me? Just google "JVC lens cap" or "JVC CCD". They have admitted this obstreperous on over 20+ models. However, the internet is full of owners of JVC models not on this list with the same muddle. The GR-D750 is not on the list, so when I called JVC for help, they told me my camera was not part of the reminisce over and it would cost anywhere from $100-$200 to fix my camera.
Maybe the exact root create is not the same, but the end result is so I was extremely dissatisfied with their response. So bottom line, I will be shopping for another stamp and hope for better luck.
Excellent Camera for the Price
This camera takes whizz quality video. It is so easy to upload if you have a decent graphic business card. For the price this is great. This camera has almost zero noise from the motor incompatible with some canon models.
Thanks JVC.
I liking the JVC750!!Great Camcorder @ a great price!
I bought this in October. I merely love it!! It's so easy to use and packed with features. The fader gives a trained quality look and feel to video footage. The video importance is fine for my needs(I'm an amatuer lol). The features are easy to access and a breath to operate. I love the 34X zoom on this thing! I can stand on one side of the river and animation photos/shoot video in another country without any blur whatsoever. The images are rock clear! They look as though all subjects are directly in front of me!!Downloading to PC is a breeze with the firewire cablegram(seperate purchase). If I had one complaint it would be that this model does'nt have a slot for a reminiscence card but for the price I paid for mine it's no big loss. It's lightweight and so sleek looking. It performs less well in lower light situations. I'm very happy with the camcorder! I would (and have) recommend the JVC GRD750 to anyone in the store for a quality MiniDV camcorder. This is a purchase that gives a lot of bang without having to shell out a lot of money. Thanks JVC!
Adulation It
I right-minded love this camcorder. Its very easy to handle and operate. I just recorded my daughters gather performance and it turned out just fine. I would recommend this camera to anyone. I also got this camera for only $179 at Margin City that was a steal. I was able to get a bag and 3 tapes for only $11.99 on Wal-marts website.
Choice Camcorder for the money
This Camcorder offers elated value for those needing a casual use camcorder. I find this light-weight cam is well made, delivering acceptable quality video, and is easy to operate- with both auto and manual modes. It does suffer from the limitations most, if not all, budget 1/6 CCD .68mp camcorders have. It struggles in low-turn on (bumping up the exposure and/or adjusting white balance helps), and playback on a soprano resolution or a big screen monitor with only .68mp isn't always flattering. Playback on more orthodox size screens (like my 27" set) are fine. Outdoors and in popular lighting situations this camera performs very well. Indoor quality suffers without enough turn on, and I usually use manual mode to improve things.
From the couple of other posts, there may be value control issues. I have none and it seems to be well made. There are other sites with almost universally positive personal reviews, so sanguinely JVC has addressed any issues.
It only has a firewire (no USB), so PC users must have a firewire port if they have a yen for to edit. I use a mac and have no issues using iMovie.
Likes: OIS, 34X zoom, 16x9 or 4x3 modes, mobile life (about 2 hours), manual control, size, build supremacy, price.
Dislikes: No DV cable (does anybody include one?), no software, blurred issues with low-light and occasionally at the long end of zooms, sub-par audio.
Complete I find the D750 to be a very predictable camcorder, offering good quality videos at an almost take away of a price. I'd recommend this camcorder to anyone, and think it would be a perfect learning contraption for someone getting started, or those who travel frequently (small size) or perhaps have higher disappointment risks (low price).
