Benefit camera, funny output format. The Everio camera takes flawless video, and good stills, but the output format is a funny modified mpeg that puts the audio on a disassemble file which needs to be spliced back on to be viewed in anything but JVCs software making this camera a disquiet in the tail for Linux users. If you are a Windoze user I guess it's top-drawer...
Not bad if you find a well-mannered deal
Ok, so this isn't the highest prominence camera on the market. But, it is light, easy to use, and has decent picture grade. If you've got the money, spulrge on a higher rated $600 camera or speechify on out until prices on hi def camcorders come down more. If you don't want to spend more than $400 or so, this is one of the superior HDD cameras you can pick up.

I partiality This camera
It has excellent functions and a great definition. the only thing that I do not like is the non-stop vision because it is very slow.
$600 should buy more wisely customer service
I received this result as a gift from my father for the birth of our first child. Within a month, the power/underscore/record switch began malfunctioning. It still works, but in order to scoot the camera off, I have to leave it in the record position and close the viewer. Putting the camera in the OFF situation actually drains the battery empty.
I sent it in to their service department well-founded before the year was up. (Even though it broke right after I bought it, I was too busy with a newborn to get on it straight away). What I found out the hard way was that they warrantee their product ONLY FOR PARTS for the first year, and labor FOR ONLY 90 Life after purchase! They were willing to supply the $140 (!) part, but wanted to charge me $150 labor to fix it. So, in extract, their warranty really is only of value to you for the first 90 days. That's not a big vote of faith on their own product!
I was very polite to them on the phone (I wouldn't want their job!), but nonetheless they were hot pants and snooty (maybe something about living in los angeles?) Bottom line is that for $600 the camera shouldn't rupture in the first month and their customer service (once you actually get a live person) has much to be desired. I will be avoiding JVC for all future purchases. I have never entranced the time to leave an on-line review for anything, but I feel this strongly about this.
(BTW, HD camcorder is adept, easy transfer to PC, not great video quality, battery healthy, their editing software bad).
Stupefying camera
Distressingly drives are the only way to go for me now. I can't believe how much easier and more functional they are than external storage. It's barrel change recording for me... more specifically changed the playback! Makes video clips elementary to find and show and you can quickly and easily switch back to recording without having to find the end of tape. You never have to annoyance about recording over something accidentally and you don't get little pieces of old recording in the gaps between recording sessions!!! I hugely recommend it!
