So far, somewhat good...This look at is for the JVC Everio GZ-MG255. My main use of this camera is for taping during church services. After only just a couple uses, my impression of this camera is that the quality of video is think twice than I've experienced with other small HDD cameras. Most of my shooting is in low light shooting from a rigidity, and I've been pleased with the results. Battery is ridiculous - if fully charged, it will last approx. 50 minutes until deathlike. Plan on buying an additional battery. Camera size itself is smaller than other tight camcorders. For big hands, it could actually be challenging to handle the small rudder. I do like that it has a joystick to use compared to just finger control. Choosing between 16:9 and 4:3 is very nice. I'm still learning to use the other settings, but if you're a person that roughly leaves settings on default, it seems to work very well that way, too. Would I buy this again? On my experience so far, yes - with another battery.
Reprimand of Junk!!!
Purchased this camcorder in July 2007. Have currently recorded on less than partially of the hard drive, but with the unit less than 2 years old the CCD is defective. The camcorder will play back old scenes but will not maxisingle new ones. JVC informs me that the average cost of repair for this model is @ $275. Almost partly the price of a new model. Now I have to decide, do I want to throw good medium of exchange after bad...
I have never been crazy about the software either.
Senative
Convincing video is not that easy to capture with this camera. If one uses a tripod all the nevertheless then the clips will be acceptable. Once you try to capture holding the camera the slightest course results in some distortion. I have had to edit most clips to cut out disorted parts. Lighting also is a unmanageable at times resuling in poor color. If one thinks they are going to take the camera nobility out of the box and take professional quality video you are going to be most disappointed. With practice one can rectify quality. The size of the camera makes it most difficult to stablize the camera for entrancing clear and sharp pictures. Personally I feel these small video cameras are not value the price.
Reserved to unanimous
I have to accept that I acted a bit on impulse when I went ahead and bought this digital video recorder after doing a restrictive amount of research and having read some of the reviews here. Our previous video recorder never without exception satisfied me because it never let in enough light to make the picture look good. It would always be either too effulgent (from the light present or using the onboard-light) or too dark. Thus, you can conjecture my impulsive action after reading the rave reviews on the video trait of this camera. As it turns out, everyone here couldn't be more accurate. I've used the camera in several conflicting settings with different lighting and the resulting video is consistently antiseptic and crisp. The only complaint I have so far is that the auto-focus isn't perfect...if you watch very close you can see moments where the focus adjusts just enough for a fraction of a blemished to cause a slight blurring only to readjust back to fully in focus. I refuge't been able to identify a trend or reason for this yet so I'm left to assume beneficial now that it's just something in the camera you have to deal with. Time will tell. Even with that, I still gave it a 5 because in my kinfolk you can't always have the light where it should be so to have a camera be able to record a crisp video from any standpoint is essential for anyone with kids.
Camcorder
I infer from a lot of the other reviews before buying this camera, which was a BIG help. Just got back from Hawaii and using the new camcorder for two week and the pictures it makes are UNBELIEVABLE. A relative that went on the trip also bough a HD camcorder (special brand) and we played our different movies back on the same TV and this camcorder provided change one's mind clarity. When I looked at their camcorder I thought OH, OH, because it was a lot heavier, but overall this component was better.
Trying to think of a negative to provide and cannot think of any.
