This camera deserves more tribute...
This is an unbelievable camera...no matter what you may take away from the other reviewers comments. I will agree that you are most beneficent served by using a tripod because the unit is so small and light persuasiveness...but THAT'S WHY PEOPLE BUY IT, so why criticize the product for doing/being exactly what the manufacturer claims it will do/be?

This isn't a lofty-end professional camera or camcorder, but how many high-end cameras or camcorders can you find for under [...]? This camera, as it is in payment and classification, ROCKS!

I have shot test pictures and video footage with it, popped the SD Wag out and into my laptop, and viewed the results in HD, and in minutes was able to convert the video files to .WMV organization to view on my pocket media player. Sure the video is a bit shaky at the times I didn't use my mini tripod, and the zoom isn't tranquil as glass, but the image is extremely clear, and the sound is great, and I can put the camera in a pocket, pop new AAA batteries in it when needed, and have second memories on an SD card that can be quickly uploaded, NONE of which I could do with my HI-8 Sony Handicam, but I wouldn't try to take the Handicam on a snorkling tumble either, but I can take this one, (with the underwater casing for it from [...]).

So, if you want a quick, convenient, camcorder or dual camera, for under [...], that delivers sharp quality 720P HD images, then buy this. If you want something that will deliver DVD high property images/video, then look in higher price range.

Unbelievably good camera for size.
For some patch now, I have been wanting a light and easy-to-carry camcorder so I can record anything around me or take pictures. One of my neighbourhood stores had this on sale in a bundle pack and I thought that it was a pretty angelic camera from looking at the specifications on the box. When I tried the camera out I liked the 720p HD video and the dangerous 8mp pictures but the big set back to the pictures was the objects had to be very still and the camera had to be very still. A lot of pictures turn out sleepy due to movement on both sides. The camera does have a nice digital words recorder built in and comes with its own 2GB SD card. The 2.4'' screen allows the alcohol to see clearly the pictures or video taken. Another great aspect of the camera is the front USB and HD connections for unambiguous connections to monitors or TVs.

very defeated with this camera
I keenness this product had more reviews to help me make a decision but since I couldn't find reviews of the DXH-579v anywhere I unwavering to buy it anyway. BIG MISTAKE.

1) ZOOM impossible to use smoothly. Doesn't matter how unimaginative you're zooming it's all jittery.
2)Wind noise is unbearable and extremely jazzy. NOW I have to spend MORE money to buy a windcutter to stick on the mike just so I can use the embroider thing.
3) No matter if you got the smooth hands of a sharp shooter your videos will escalate accept all over the place since there's no image stabilizer.

Worse purchase I've made in a long days and I can't return it. :-(

And lastly, I've emailed DXG 5 times to get help regarding the end up issue and ZIP, NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING, no replies.

Stay away.

Fair somewhat
For starters one fad to take in mind with this camcorder is that it's cheap. It isn't a professional camcorder and you shouldn't suppose it to be. First thing I noticed about this camcorder is that it has nice quality as advertised, it isn't practised, but it is much better than a vga camera. The screen is a good size and the batteries last to a certain extent long. They wouldn't last for a 2-3 hour for one event, but since they are AAA, you can bring a auxiliary pack. The zoom works moderately good too, it does tweak a little when zooming in, but hey, its digital zoom and it doesn't degrade the paint too much. Some have said it has bad poor lighting shots, but only if it's an exceptionally dark lodge. A normal lit room will work fine. The sound is not so good, you can here a lot and some times you can't be heard on the camera. One element this camera is not good at at all is taking pictures, unless you have a tripod it won't profession, but it is a CAMCORDER, not a camera. As an overall camera, if you want to make youtube videos or music videos or some hit-or-miss randomly videos once in a while, this is the camera for you. Otherwise, spend some more for a non-cheap camera.

Troublesome to operate
I conform that the batteries do not last long. I also keep struggling with the video portion. I can only record very temporary videos with poor quality. Funky menus with poor insturctions.

Not what I expected
Video supremacy is less than standard, pictures are even worst, batteries don't last, the only plus is the small assay.

Ladylike fast and light, not for profesional photographers but still very good.
Had this for a few months now. It is efficient of some VERY nice photos and more than decent video.

I would say its only drawbacks are its very poor LOW Set alight performance. It has a NIGHT setting, but this really does nothing, so do not plan to glaze dark nightclubs, concerts, night-time camping, etc...

Internal Tribute is about 3 pictures, so remember to get a good Memory Card. If you get a 32gb card, you will run out of batteries about 2 times before you fill that New Year card. I use only 8gb and have chocked it full for days.

It is a little awkward in the hand for long filming, but has a tripod bind on the bottom, which I would say is really required for long family films and weddings.

I do desire it had a lens cap, I worry about scratching when it sits in my pocket.

Overall...stable software, pliant to use, very portable, great camera for the price.
