augury! Be careful with compatibility
All Canon HDV cameras has an grave issue: if you record in 24F or 30F modes, the tapes can only be played back in the camera itself. Canon records those signals in a proprietary system that is not HDV compliant. YOU CANNOT PLAYBACK THE TAPES IN ANY DECK OR CAMERA other than Canon.

In terms of commercially on tap HD camcorders, this is hard to beat
Inevitable there are better high-definition camcorders out there, but if you're just an average consumer like most of us and aren't match a national news studio or filming a big-budget action thriller, the Canon XL-H1S should be more than adequate at meeting your videography needs.
I have spent entire weekends shooting hours and hours of radiant footage, and after editing it together on my computer and viewing the finished product, I have been consistently blown somewhere else by the outstanding sound and picture quality the XL-H1S provides.
This camcorder is set to handle any professional-grade attachment you can throw at it -- compact microphones, expandable battery packs and memory cards, filters, lenses, etc. -- and is all exceptionally user-friendly. I stand by my purchase of this product and have thus far loved every flash I have spent using it. The Canon XL-H1S comes highly recommended.
A Really Remarkable Camera
Canon has done it again with another truly remarkable camera. The XLH1 and XLH1a are by far the best camera's in this price range.
Literally this camera is better than most that cost 3 or 4 times as much.
Great picture rank, very nicely laid out controls, fast auto focus, very gifted image stabilizer and a enormous amount of flexibility.
I have been a Canon fan and user for 20 years and have never been downhearted. The Canon XLH1 is a work of art and a thing of beauty.
Sure this camera is not for the novice because it can be perfectly complex to get set up to perform the way you want it to but once you do go through the tedious tasks of adjusting it to your own tastes then you have the most wonderful video camera retaliate for at your finger tips to do what ever you want it to do.
You can set the camera to auto everything and get pretty actual HD video but I suggest you learn how to adjust it to do more of what it was made to do and that is capture absolutely astonishing video.

Material case for the money...
I bought this for my Canon XL2. The lawsuit is well made and sturdy for the price. You will have to break down an XL2 to fit inside the case. The case does fall with extra foam padding and dividers that can be cut to make all the parts fit snugly for justifiable transport. I only gave it four stars because I expected to be able to place my XL2 in the circumstance, and pull it out and shoot when I got to my destination. The fact that you have to remove the lens and mic/viewfinder mount is a bush-league issue, but could be a consideration. Otherwise, the case is perfect for my needs.

entire stuff
grandeur case. i bought it for my canon xh-a1 hd video camera. plenty of room for lens hood, mobile charger accessories, spare tapes, camera remote, etc.
Top for the Price
This casket is great for the price. you can't even get a good camera bag for this price let alone it is a hard encase.
only down fall is I bought it for my new XH-A1s since the product info says it is designed for it and the action barely closes with the camera inside laying on it's side. I felt it as if it was common to break the mic holder so i now have to carry a screw driver to constantly associate it. it's still a tight fit and i think after time it will ruin the hinges.
the product info also says you can restrain other accessories like other lens with the camera, but I can barely fit my camera with all of the model cords and parts it came with.
I gave this case 4 stars because it is a exceptionally good case and made great. It is perfect for small cameras and other mat, it just isn't big enough for my camera and I can't see how it would fit a XL2 even taken apart.
I will use it for my camera until I get a bigger dispute and use it for other equipment.
