I just ordered a Canon DC310 DVD Camcorder and I just wondered what the best kind of disc would be for me to use? I don't get the whole plus and minus thing on the DVD RW's. I've never used a DVD Camcorder. Also, if you own one or have in the past could you share
some tips on operating it so I don't screw it up? Thanks.
The manual states that you can only use DVD-R, DVD-RW and the dual layer versions (which are way too expensive). With DVD-RW you can intialize the disk in VR mode - DON'T DO IT!!!! It allows you to edit the disk in the camcorder, but it's almost impossible to play the disk afterwards!
I'm guessing from your name that you'll want to record your child - if so, try and cancel the order and get a more suitable camcorder. DVD camcorders are generally poor, but the DC310 has poor low light handling and poor image stabilisation - both very useful if you're recording children. An entry level MiniDV camcorder would probably be best.
