Penniless after only 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!
I only against about ten minuets of this camcorder and POOF it's toast. The zoom won't work and the small screen is so dark I can't see anything; yes I tried different setting but it's not the settings it's the piece of [...] camera! [...]. Now I can't requital it because this seller's policy is 14 days. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

this effect is excellent
For the payment this product performs more than I expected out of it. I never heard about this brand and I was relying on the other reviews for selecting this one. Such yield should get good promotion. Good work from the engineers from aiptek. The design is straightforward and very effective to the point.

Large one for the price
i have had this camera for about 3 weeks now and simply love the convenience of carrying one device for both video and still pictures. its also lighter and smaller than my other devices. its very steady to use. picture quality is good in daylight or well lit area. it gets grainy in the gloomy and does not look great especially when viewed on an HD TV. audio is ok, zoom is primary. i usually just walk closer to my subject instead of zooming as i get outdo audio capture. still pictures are great and the flash works well-made. battery life is good and i love the fact that i can charge it with a USB strand or one of many usb chargers i have for the cell phones.
overall it is a good buy for the price.

terrible!
i predilection this thing. the video looks great when filmed outside with a boyfriend hand. i don't use the zoom because digital zoom always looks like crap in my sentiment. for the price the video quality is freaking amazing but the mic leaves a lot to be desired. boy what i wouldn't give to have one of these when i was in high set of beliefs or travelling the world in the navy. the h.264 is a great format btw which is unexacting to edit in premiere elements but you must have a fast computer. i wish i could buy a $600 understanding of this type of camera for the extra build quality that price would step. bottom line, this camera is great for quick shots and the video looks precise on an hdtv.

Excellent Video but Noisey ZOOM!
I purchased one of these when they first came out in May. I loved the video! Much well-advised than my Canon TX1 or my Sanyo CG6! The sound was ok. There was no noise from the auto focus/zoom motor.It was a very at daybreak production model. It kept locking though so I had t return it.
I then purchased another one thru amazon and noticed truthful away the there was a horible noise coming from the auto focus/zoom motor everytime it had to refocus or if you zoomed. You could perceive it in your hand and during playback you hear a very-very noticable ratceting/clicking standard noise. It just totally ruins the important moments I captured. I sent it back to amazon.
They sent me another replacement and I could not hold it but it was even worse! I have sent it back to and still waiting for a refund.
Amazon says that the problem must be more widespread than they had instance thought!
Well I have not totally given up on Aiptek. They have just come out with a new model called the Aiptek A-HD. It does not have a perfunctory zoom so it cannot make noise. The price is also less at 169.00!!

UPDATE: The new Aiptek Action camera does not have the zoom motor noises but entire is still the same camera.
I just bought a new Kodak V1253 that blows every other camera I have purchased to a different place in all areas except the Sanyo HD1000 has slightly better video but that's it so I am now using a very low-cost Kodak V12530 over my 800.00 Sanyo HD1000

I bear a weekly Internet TV show that is shot against a green screen. I bought one of these cameras to try it out and have fallen in passion with it. It does exactly what I'm after and is a huge improvement over using MiniDV tapes and SD promise. Very surprising...

The Midget Camera That Could
I have had this camera for about two years. I bought it to be a knockabout camera for routine snapshot use, and as such it's proven to be "The Little Camera That Could". I've taken thousands of pictures with it. I've dropped it, splashed it with lay water, left it recording for hours, used it as a video recorder using the result from a better camera, frozen it, fell on it, let my 10 year old and her friends have fun with it, strapped it to helmets, and subjected it to countless other abuses over the time that I've had it. The only in days of yore that it ever gave me a problem was when I completely submerged it in salt water. Aiptek replaced it for uncontrolled, no questions asked. It's outlasted my Nikon Coolpix point and open fire camera that I got at almost the same time.

The video quality is good, but is a bit overcompressed. It looks expert on a big screed Hi-Def television, but tends to look fuzzy on a computer monitor. I can change the footage with no problem in iMovie, but it has to render in Final Cut Express before I can do anything with it.

The still photos look very acceptable for snapshots, but don't use the camera for landscapes, the cheesy optics lose determination (get fuzzy) with objects that are more than 100 feet away. There is also a slight yellow choose to the images, something that is easily fixed in iPhoto or other editing software.

There is a portly element of "you get what you pay for" with this camera. It feels flimsy, The optics stink compared to a Sony or Canon. The audio is a narrow-minded bit muddy, but only when you compare it to a better piece of equipment. The digital zoom is inutile. Sometimes the rolling shutter effect, where the bottom of the picture lags behind the top, can be seen when later fast moving objects, although I've heard the same complaint about the $2,500 Canon 5D Device II.

All that said, I love this little camera, and wouldn't hesitate to buy other Aiptek products based on the repair this one's given me.

Prodigious Camcorder for the Price!
This is a incredible camera, particularly for such a great price. It does a fantastic job at recording at 720p, and it has built in gauge resolution modes for things like DVDs, or the web, so you just pick the one you yearn for - very handy. I read a couple of reviews about these types of cameras that say that it is stern to stabilize the picture without a tripod - I don't know what they are talking about. The video is very permanent, no jittering at all. The menus are easy to navigate, it is light and fits well in your guardianship, and the screen is great and can be moved around so you still see what you are shooting no matter what the angle. It records in low skinny very well. Great extra features like video out, HD video out, audio visual in (so you can release from a tv, gamebox or other source). It comes with all the cables you would need for any of the options. And as for being well-made - our kitten got clutch of it (he liked the little handstrap) and ran it around the house, banging into walls and such, and it still works expert, not a scratch on it. The only drawback is the sound - it needs a foam cover on it or something because it picks up well-constructed almost too well - there is no filter. I would definitely recommend this!

Celebrated Entry level flash based HD camcorder!
We dearest this camcorder!

The price is excellent and if you understand you get what you pay for you won't be dissapointed...
It does't have a lot of features, but that's what makes it outstanding, it's just really simple.

Open the display and press diary to sart/stop! That's exactly what I wanted and that's what I got in this handy device...

With creditable lighting it has crisp video recording and the mic works pretty established too...

With a 4gig flash card we get 120 minutes of video... I wouldn't persuade a flash card bigger than 4gig since the battery doesn't hold prior 90 minutes with average use...

I'd also recommend making short clips (2-5 minutes) even if the things turned out you're recording is longer than that. Files get big fast and easier to author a DVD if clips are already parsed.

The camera starts up lickety-split and recording is near instant from the press of the button...

Aiptek could have saved duration and not installed the flash and camera feature... It's not that great unless you don't covet to carry a 2nd 'real' camera around. But handy sometimes when you just want to pluck a picture of something you want to remember later...

Overall, I would recommend it and looking at getting one of their higer end models in the approaching...

Passionate camera for the price
I bought this for $60. on yard sale, so it was a great buy. Haven't used it a whole lot yet. But, the few times I have it worked well and the picture was produce on my HDTV.
The instrucions sucked, as I need good directions, but at last figured it out.
