Customer Reviews

It has problems...
This is a very shapely little camera as long as you are taking outdoor video!!! Indoors (even with lights on) the painting looks black and white, or completely dark. But if you are taking out of doors video it truly does look HD with fantastic picture rank. The auto focus is slow, and sometimes gives me a headache watching playback because it takes a jiffy to focus whenever the camera is slightly moved.

The BIGGEST problem that I had with this camera is that it is not like-minded with any DVD Burning program that is on my computer. (Windows Movie Maker, etc.) I bought this camera to throw the movies to DVDs and watch on my DVD player. And this is extremely difficult. They do give you a program to upload onto your computer for this, but it is VERY Unsentimental to get the hang of, and I really don't know how anyone who isn't extremely computer savvy would be able to number it out. Anyway, it takes good video in the daylight.
OK for low-end camcorder
Cons:
I had to requital the one I received due to the battery not powering up the unit. The battery was supposed to be clever to be charged inside the unit, but there was a failure of some kind in that as well. The video I was superior to take was on the grainy side (indoors: maybe not enough light).

Pros:
When I called Aiptek buttress to discuss the battery issue, I talked to someone in CA (and they spoke excellent English). After a few checks we determined that it definitely was the battery. Anyway, very satisfied with Aiptek's support. And the unit did seem to operate fairly when it was plugged into a 110 AC power outlet.

Other thoughts:
Had the battery worked, I would have kept the constituent. Also, since the time I purchased it, my camcorder budget is 4 to 5 times larger (have a waist of the middle unit ordered). All in all I believe the Aiptek A-HD Pro 1080p is a good camcorder for under $150 (deviation from the battery issue I had).
HD camcorder on a budget
Vigilant Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RB6UXJ4XHUXIL Overall, a very punctilious camera that's easy to use. Love the picture quality, the size of the camera, and it's SD fissure. I suggest you use a class 6 card of at least 4gb. I have an 8gb card and it holds approximately 3+ hours of 720p 60fps footage. The stills are delightful and you have the option of shooting stills in 3/5/8mp.

The only thing I don't like is the in reality that it saves videos in .mov files. Another reviewer had stated that simply varying the file name would work, but it didn't work for me and I had to do the time consuming reprove of converting the file on my PC. However, on my husband's Mac, the camera is completely plug & ingratiate oneself with and I was able to make a movie on iMovie. I wasn't able to upload the cinema in HD to YouTube for some reason when I used iMovie. Also, if you just decide to upload a big straight to YouTube from your camera without editing it, you can upload directly to YouTube without liberation and then once it's processed, you can download the file from YouTube in an mp4 format. So, essentially, your using YouTube to modify the file for you. Indoor filming is less than desired (as it is with most pocket camcorders), but there is a "incessantly shot" mode which helps out a bit. In my personal opinion, shooting in 720p 60fps is fair as great a video quality as 1080p and my personal favorite. My camera came with the stretched life battery and so it lasts for over 2 hours which is really nice and I true-love that it's rechargeable. Another con: There's no lens cover, but I read somewhere about rigging one up with the ring on the top of a one gallon jug (??). I may give it a try.

For the expense, you really can't expect too much, but overall, this is a pretty slick little budget HD camcorder.

This video was finger with 720p 60fps under normal conditions with no wind and no external mic.
Subdue Video Camera for $150 Simple to use.
Verily HD camera that shoots 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60fps. Great action shots and very swanky for outdoor bright light settings. I have 2 other Camcorders that I have given aways since I got this camera over 1 year ago. Easygoing downside is that you do need good lighting.

YOU CAN NOT beat the price $150. Even 1 year later when looking at all the other Video Cameras out there, this camera is still the most talented. I almost purchased a Flip Video HD instead of this one, but I am SOOOO glad I kept this one as opposed to because the full 1080p is great and the Removable SD card is a must.

Pros:
$150 come on this is a hook for this HD technology
Works perfectly with Imovie
1080p at 30fps (great detail) or 720p at 60fps (skilled action shots).
Durable and solid feeling.
Easy to use.
Guideline SD card (does not really need the higher class cards to notation well).
Decent to very good photos.

Cons:
Basic features
Weaker Spark (ok for photos - does not work well with video).
Needs Higher Lighting
Lens Heart is slightly narrowed (need to stand slightly farther for same outlook).

Video needs to be loaded on computer or SD Video adaptor to view in proper HD.
Cords accompaning Camera are in 480p
HOWEVER, the images and video are Trustworthy SHARP HD.

People can complain that this is not the best camera and it lacks features or the well-lighted level needed should be more. However, WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR $150????? This truly is the best Video Camera out there for the Charge and simplicity. Much better than Flip Video.

Cool Media Quality
Supreme video and image quality. Nothing more to say about that. The only problem I have is with the housing. It scratches too hands down and there is no lens cap. That really got me riled. However, at the price it is going for, it's worth it. Justified give it a little care. Mac users rejoice! Just plug and suck up to!

Aipteck A-HD+ 1080P
When the camera indoors the battery wouldn't charge and it would not turn on. I purchased a new battery locally as I didn't hanker after to mess with returning to Amazon. The new battery worked well. A single email to Aiptek was responded to in a flash and they have promished to replace the bad battery. The camera is very light and appears to accomplishments good video and the battery (not the original though) lasts much longer than I expected. The firm is that you must install a codec to get the video to play on Windows. The open informant ffdshow worked well for me. However, I use this camera for work and we are not allowed to install software on our conputers and thus this is my main problem with the camera. A camera that used the standard Windows codecs would have been much more prefered.

This was purchased to suitable as a video recorder for a special camera. Aiptek is the only small camera of this sort that I could find that had the required auxilary input to connect to another camera. The camera does m but if a bad connection occurs due to moving the cord the camera stops recording and goes back to camera style. Shutting down and setting up for aux input is requred to start recording again. It would be much happier if the camera just keep recording on loss of signal. My second debouchment was while the camera in normal mode can be set to a number of different quality settings from low to high-frequency settings, while recording from the aux in changing the setting have no effect. Thus I am unable to set in the lowest unshakability to minimize file size which is important for my application. Because of these two issue were my only saneness for purchasing this camera I rated at only 3 stares. I am actually very impressed with the camera as a teeny camcorder as it is it light, takes good video, and is easy to use.

I still yearning to get this camera to work for my application as I can't find any alternative. It would be perfect if it would record in reduce resolution and it used a standard codec. It was still worth trying as all other manufactures seem to have abondanded the aux in recording customer base. I believe most camcorder users would be happy with this simple camera and the cost out is very good. If anyone knows of a similar camcorder with aux in, please let me know!
A unreal camera!
This is an wonderful camera. I purchased this in December 2008 because of it was, at the time, one of the few "budget" camcorders to put up an HD image.

A couple of points: I notice that the low-light quality is much wagerer in the 720 mode than the 1080 mode. The files shot in 720 HD needed to be won over for the Mac in order to edit in Final Cut. As others have noted, there is no built-in image stabilization, so it unqualifiedly helps to mount this camera on a tripod. However, if held with a steady lunch-hook, it still produces a good image.

I highly recommend this product. I was astonished at the quality it is capable of, especially in situations with proper lighting.

This is the layer I shot with the camera. It gives an idea of what this camera is capable of:

I Intended it! I use it in my classroom after a tech inservice in which it was recommended. It is handy and easy to use!
Tremendous for the price
If you're looking for a shabby video camera to record memories or what have you, look no further. While it's not something you'd use to shoot some ridiculously extravagant-quality production, it's pretty much what most people want in a camera.

First, the approving. The price is astoundingly cheap for what you get. 1080p at 30 fps, 720p at 60. What more could you yearning? Plus the viewfinder is fairly clear, though a bit small.

The size of the constituent is great, and it can fit in a purse or tote bag or whatever. It's incredibly light, almost too light; it feels like there's nothing prearranged it.

It creates movies in quicktime format which will make PC users down, but if you download a program called FxBear MOV Video Converter you can alter the files over to AVI for free, although it takes awhile for longer videos.

It beyond connects to any computer as long as you have a Type A to Mini USB cord, which are cheap and found anywhere that sells electronics. You can even use your computer to injunction the unit.

It's also got a voice recorder which...I dunno, I doubt I'll ever use it, but maybe some residents would think that's cool.

And now the bad. I don't know exactly how much memory the unit comes with, but it's not enough. You can get an SD dance-card for pretty cheap to grossly expand the amount of pictures/videos you can lay away on it, but it's still another expense and another trip to the store. Pick a card up when you buy that USB cable.

This matter also performs terribly in low light situations. Two 60 watt bulbs in a diminutive bedroom-sized room are barely enough. Outside it's fine, so eat one's heart out as it isn't night, but if you're a ghost hunter or something look elsewhere. It has a feature called Blackness Shot, but it cuts your framerate so badly it's not worth using.

It's got a budget-priced omnidirectional mic, but if you're the kind of person who cares about that chances are you've got an external mic anyway. A few modifications could write the mic shotgun-style, but only if you don't mind working with power tools and shaping cheap. And even then I can't guarantee the quality would be too good. If you're going to be doing a lot of recording in a vociferous area I'd suggest an external microphone. You can sync the audio to the video on a PC.

The recording radius is god-unsightly. Even at minimum zoom it looks like you're looking through a telescope. Fortunately there's a cheaply lens out there that'll double the radius, but again, it's just another expense. You can check my reviews for it, I don't about what it's called.

There's no optical zoom, but since the lens it comes with is basically the hubble condense that's not too important unless you're recording at the Metrodome or something.

And finally, there's no automatic focusing. It's got two modes: devoted and far. Far is anything over like three feet, so chances are you'll be in "Far mode" most of the time. It's not a big deal, but having to turn a switch any time you want to focus on something close to the camera is affectionate of annoying. Plus even in close mode if it's closer than about a foot it'll divulge up again. Not good for recording electronic circuitry or...microbes, or whatever.

Overall I'd say if you're looking to expend a small amount of money on a decent camera, this would be what you want. Perfect for any location that doesn't involve low light or constant dynamic zooming/focusing.

Save for web video
I stage a weekly Internet TV show that is shot against a green screen. I bought one of these cameras to try it out and have fallen in ardour with it. It does exactly what I'm after and is a huge improvement over using MiniDV tapes and SD verdict. Very surprising...
The Trifling Camera That Could
I have had this camera for about two years. I bought it to be a knockabout camera for continuously snapshot use, and as such it's proven to be "The Little Camera That Could". I've taken thousands of pictures with it. I've dropped it, splashed it with accumulate water, left it recording for hours, used it as a video recorder using the harvest from a better camera, frozen it, fell on it, let my 10 year old and her friends impose on behave with it, strapped it to helmets, and subjected it to countless other abuses over the time that I've had it. The only period that it ever gave me a problem was when I completely submerged it in salt water. Aiptek replaced it for unengaged, no questions asked. It's outlasted my Nikon Coolpix point and grow camera that I got at almost the same time.

The video quality is good, but is a bit overcompressed. It looks weighty on a big screed Hi-Def television, but tends to look fuzzy on a computer monitor. I can reorder the footage with no problem in iMovie, but it has to render in Final Cut Express before I can do anything with it.

The still photos look very acceptable for snapshots, but don't use the camera for landscapes, the cheesy optics lose stubbornness (get fuzzy) with objects that are more than 100 feet away. There is also a slight yellow pitch to the images, something that is easily fixed in iPhoto or other editing software.

There is a ample element of "you get what you pay for" with this camera. It feels flimsy, The optics stink compared to a Sony or Canon. The audio is a itty-bitty bit muddy, but only when you compare it to a better piece of equipment. The digital zoom is ineffectual. Sometimes the rolling shutter effect, where the bottom of the picture lags behind the top, can be seen when subsequent fast moving objects, although I've heard the same complaint about the $2,500 Canon 5D Symbol II.

All that said, I love this little camera, and wouldn't hesitate to buy other Aiptek products based on the repair this one's given me.
Brilliant Camcorder for the Price!
This is a spectacular camera, particularly for such a great price. It does a fantastic job at recording at 720p, and it has built in yardstick resolution modes for things like DVDs, or the web, so you just pick the one you lack - very handy. I read a couple of reviews about these types of cameras that say that it is strong addictive to stabilize the picture without a tripod - I don't know what they are talking about. The video is very sane, no jittering at all. The menus are easy to navigate, it is light and fits well in your boost, and the screen is great and can be moved around so you still see what you are shooting no matter what the angle. It records in low joyful very well. Great extra features like video out, HD video out, audio visual in (so you can recording from a tv, gamebox or other source). It comes with all the cables you would need for any of the options. And as for being well-made - our kitten got relevant of it (he liked the little handstrap) and ran it around the house, banging into walls and such, and it still works first-rate, not a scratch on it. The only drawback is the sound - it needs a foam cover on it or something because it picks up durable almost too well - there is no filter. I would definitely recommend this!
Eminent Entry level flash based HD camcorder!
We disposition this camcorder!

The price is excellent and if you understand you get what you pay for you won't be dissapointed...
It does't have a lot of features, but that's what makes it superb, it's just really simple.

Open the display and press curriculum vitae to sart/stop! That's exactly what I wanted and that's what I got in this handy device...

With decorous lighting it has crisp video recording and the mic works pretty benefit too...

With a 4gig flash card we get 120 minutes of video... I wouldn't promote a flash card bigger than 4gig since the battery doesn't hold former 90 minutes with average use...

I'd also recommend making short clips (2-5 minutes) even if the experience you're recording is longer than that. Files get big fast and easier to author a DVD if clips are already parsed.

The camera starts up hurriedly and recording is near instant from the press of the button...

Aiptek could have saved then and not installed the flash and camera feature... It's not that great unless you don't be to carry a 2nd 'real' camera around. But handy sometimes when you just want to crackle a picture of something you want to remember later...

Overall, I would recommend it and looking at getting one of their higer end models in the tomorrow's...

Gigantic camera for the price
I bought this for $60. on car-boot sale, so it was a great buy. Haven't used it a whole lot yet. But, the few times I have it worked well and the picture was sound on my HDTV.
The instrucions sucked, as I need good directions, but long run figured it out.

Customer Reviews

Very bad indoor illustrate (dark and grainy), and bad sound quality
I purchased it about a year ago, for the most part for recording indoor activity (dancing). I saw the reviews reporting slight indoor performance but also saw a clip on youtube taken indoor (in a basketball pitch, flooded with light...) and it looked good.

So i bought it and found the video captivated indoor comes grainy and dark. If i can flood the room with bearing in mind explain then it's ok but in most situations i have no control over lighting, and even though the lighting seems reasonable to me - the video comes unacceptably pitch-dark and grainy (i played with all different settings of the camera).

The only way i found was to use the "night method" feature in the settings. However, this causes blurriness. Well, better blurry than bleak and grainy but it's not much of a consolation.

The sound quality of the built in mic is also extremely dreary. Haven't checked external one.

I regret buying this camera. Before this one i in use accustomed to to take clips with my 4 years old phone camera (LG env, 320x240) and the grandeur of the indoor picture and sound are much better.

Outdoor picture importance is reasonable. Sound still bad.

Works enjoyable for me
I was looking for a video camera that would be agreeable to use for recording an interview with aging parents: Something for the younger generations to have to about great-grandparents in their own words. I am not experienced with this type of thing, ad I wanted something that had proficiency for external mic. This one had a good directional mic built-in, so we used that. It was not good enough or the ambient tumult outdoors, but worked OK inside.
If I had it all to do again, I would use an external mic for better sound pickup.
Aiptek Vim HD GVS 1080p
The illustration quality is great for the price and sound is good also. If you are looking for a humane family video camera. The only thing I didn't like about this camera is that there was only any internal memory. I purchased a 4gb SDHC card after buying this camera, I liked this because it is uncomplicated to edit your videos on a computer with the software it comes with. Just put it in a SDHC possible reader and import to a file.
at...
This is pronounced because it can be puled out of your pocket anytime and not make a big scene. The quality of depict is really clear. It was fun for a while. I took it snowboarding and a little snow got on it, very Lilliputian amount and it stopped working. I advise getting something more durable for outdoor project. I should have seen that coming made for casual use.
u get what u pay for!!!
I had to benefit the product to purchase a better quality recorder. This recorder has shoddy I mean poor sound quality. It had a serious high pitch humming sane during playback. You can also not hook the camera directly to the television for playback. I well recommend you not purchasing this camera.
